Kapi'olani is a very caring mentor. She honors the process of personal training because she makes sure each step of assessing and goal setting fits what you are comfortable with. She can help find solutions for anyone, and is respectful in asking what the best ways to help you are, whether through presenting new ideas, supporting current goals, reflecting on past solutions etc. I have enjoyed hearing about her own journey to her career, and what motivates and brought her to this work. I am thankful to have worked with her. Having a mentor who is also Indigenous opened so many doors in conversation through cultural relations and worldview. It meant I was able to truly open up about what is going on in my life and what my values are, and not have to go the extra step of explaining why. Even after our sessions ended, I feel very supported by her. I know that Kapi'olani will continue to help many others on their journey through her strong heart and reflection, and anyone who gets to work with her will be very fortunate. Mahalo nui for your time spent meeting with me. - Kamaka'ike
